Rory's guide to reverse swing
Reverse swing happens when the ball swings in the opposite direction to conventional swing, traditionally the ball must be as dry as possible, so bowlers keep their palms off the ball. Reverse swing can only happen when both sides of the ball are scuffed up, causing turbulence on both sides, the seem causes the seem causes the turbulent boundary layer to thicken, so the air leaves earlier causing the ball to move in the opposite direction that it would traditionally move in, fooling the batsman as they judge what the ball is doing by the seem.
